All services provided by GrokThis.net may be used for lawful purposes only. Transmission, storage, or presentation of any information, data or material in violation of any United States Federal, State or City law is prohibited. this includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material, material we judge to be threatening or obscene, or material protected by trade secrete and other statue. The subscriber agrees to indemnify and hold harmless GrokThis.net from any claims resulting from the use of the service which damages the subscriber or any other party.
Pornography and sex-related merchandising are prohibited on GrokThis.net hosting servers. This provision does NOT apply to Dedicated Servers, but it does apply to all Traditional, Advanced, and Xen VPS accounts. This includes sites that may Link to adult content elsewhere. This is also true for sites that promote any illegal activity or content that may be damaging to GrokThis.net servers or any other server on the internet. Links to such materials are also prohibited.
:: Examples of non-acceptable content
- Pirated software, music, and movies
- Bulk Email related products
- Hacking/cracking related websites
- Adult Pornography/Nudity (except on dedicated servers)
- Child pornography, without exception
- Websites operated by, or paid for by any organization or government supporting or defined as a Terrorist Organization by the US Department of Defense
- Sites containing or linking to material that may be considered detrimental to the public health, safety, or welfare as prohibited by law.
GrokThis.net will be the sole arbiter as to what constitutes a violation of this provision, and reserves the right to deactivate and remove any site at any time for any reason without refund!
:: System Resource Usage
If GrokThis.net's system administration team determines that a customer's account is utilizing an unacceptable amount of system resources, GrokThis.net may temporarily deactivate the account in question. If GrokThis.net's staff deems necessary, an eviction notice may be sent to the customer of an offending account providing them with ten (10) days in which to either upgrade to a larger account (if presented as an option), purchase a dedicated server, or locate a new provider. This only occurs in extreme cases.
GrokThis.net will be the sole arbiter as to what constitutes a violation of this provision. Because of the nature of this provision, each account will be considered and analyzed individually.
:: Chat Rooms & IRC
Operating IRC Servers is forbidden for all Advanced and Traditional hosting accounts. IRC Servers are allowed on VPS and Dedicated servers, but such servers may not link to other IRC Servers, or join IRC Server networks such as EFnet, Dalnet, Undernet, or Freenode.
Operation of non-IRC chat services is allowed, but may be subject to scrutinization on a case-by-case basis.
IRC clients and bots are NOT allowed from traditional or advanced accounts. VPS and Dedicated servers may operate IRC bots, but may be subject to scrutinization on a case-by-case basis. IRC bots must comply with all other rules related to the distribution and storage of illegal materials; thus, XDCC bots serving pirated materials are not allowed; however, 'game bots' and XDCC bots serving legal material ARE allowed.
:: Background running programs
Customers are not permitted to run programs in the background with traditional accounts. This tends to use a lot of system resources, and can impair service offered to other customers on that server. Background services ARE allowed with Advanced Accounts.
:: Cron Jobs
We do allow Cron Jobs to be conducted on our servers. You can setup and manage the cron jobs for your account from the shell.
:: Email Abuse
Spamming, or the sending of unsolicited email, from a GrokThis.net server or using an email address that is maintained on a GrokThis.net server is STRICTLY prohibited. Using SPAM to advertise a site hosted on GrokThis.net's network also constitutes as a violation of this provision. GrokThis.net will be the sole arbiter as to what constitutes a violation of this provision.
In addition, mailing lists are acceptable under the following provisions:
- The emails are of a solicited, non-advertising nature.
- Addresses must be added via double opt-in.
- Clients must provide an easy, unencumbered unsubscription procedure.
- The account must abide by the laws of all applicable jurisdictions. This includes at a minimum, the federal laws of the United States, and the state laws of Pennslyvania.
:: Server Abuse
Any attempts to undermine or cause harm to a GrokThis.net Internet Solutions server or customer of GrokThis.net is strictly prohibited.
GrokThis.net will be the sole arbiter as to what constitutes a violation of this provision.
:: Failure to Follow Policies
If any terms or conditions are failed to be followed it will result in grounds for account deactivation. Any accounts and/or servers contained within GrokThis.net's network must adhere to the above policies.
We reserve the right to remove any account without prior notice. If we deactivate your account for violating policy, your will forfeit your rights to a refund--and none will be given. No refunds for advanced payment. Our normal policy is a warning first, and account deactivation the second offense, but no warning is required.
GrokThis.net reserves the right to deactivate and remove any site hosted on our servers that contains any content that it deems in its sole discretion to be unacceptable, undesirable or contraindicated.
